Sky Badgers Incorporated got its name from an incident that occurred during a trade run lead by Captain Azshes Shadowstorm (founder and leader of Sky Badgers Inc.). While en route to their rendezvous, the ship came under fire from a team of twin Galleons. Commanding a Junker equipped with only Light Carronade and two Dragon Tongue Light Flamethrowers at the time, Azshes lead a daring and risky assault on the enemy balloons. It took nearly and hour but the combination of flame and flechette kept the assailants from ever getting off the ground and eventually compromised the hulls enough to ground them permanently. A witness on one of the trade ships described it as, "...a vicious and relentless attack, similar to how a badger fights."

The description caught on and the crew soon became known as "Sky Badgers". Shorty after, Azshes decided to create a business out of aerial battles and dog fights. Founding the company "Sky Badgers Incorporated" and taking up "Honey" The Sky Badger as their mascot.
